E3-US

A State-Level Economic Impact Model

Speak to One of Our Experts

About E3-US

E3-US is an innovative energy-environment-economy model covering all 50 US states, owned and operated by Cambridge Econometrics. It allows policy leaders and decision-makers to assess the impact of investment and policies at either the state or national level, including spill- over impacts across states.

The model follows the approach used in our world-class global E3ME model and brings the same key advantages over many other existing tools:

  • a high level of disaggregation of sectors and household groups
  • over 70 industry sectors defined incustomized to each state
  • integrated treatment of the energy system, including a bottom-up representation of the power sector and energy generation technologies
  • an economic specification that gives the model a strong empirical grounding
  • short and long-term assessment options (to 2050)

Economic Impacts of Decarbonization

E3-US has been applied in multiple states to estimate the economic impacts of decarbonization pathways such as net zero buildings, carbon-free power sector, or a net zero statewide economy.
