Simone Cooper-Searle
Simone leads the Global Environment Division at Cambridge Econometrics, bringing over 15 years of experience in directing research, policy, and strategy teams on projects related to energy transition, climate change mitigation, and the circular economy.
Simone's career has been at the intersection of disciplines (engineering, economics, policy), stakeholder groups (government, industry and civil society), and environmental policy topics. Before joining Cambridge Econometrics in 2024, she spent five years at the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ), playing a key role in shaping the UK’s Hydrogen Strategy. Prior to this, she held a number of research and policy roles on climate and energy topics at Chatham House, the International Council on Mining and Metals, and Climate Strategies.
As Head of Global Environment, Simone works closely with policymakers, industry leaders, and researchers to translate Cambridge Econometrics’ evidence-based insights into policy and strategic decision-making, while also collaborating with senior leadership to guide the company’s long-term vision.
Simone holds a PhD in Environmental Economics and an MPhil in Environmental Policy from the University of Cambridge and a BSc in Economics from the University of Birmingham.
