Greenpeace UK Launches Affordable Energy Calculator
Greenpeace UK launched a new Affordable Energy Calculator to coincide with the latest energy price cap announcement by Ofgem.
Using analysis from Cambridge Econometrics and developed by digital agency Outlandish, the calculator allows individuals to find how much they could save on their energy bills in 2030, if the government funded heat pump installations and improved energy efficiency measures.
The calculator works by asking users to answer a few questions about their home and calculates an estimated annual energy bill, comparing a scenario with no improvement to the energy efficiency of their home to a scenario where a heat pump is installed and the energy efficiency of their home was improved to EPC band C.
The results of the calculator support the messages of a previous report Cambridge Econometrics produced for Greenpeace UK, which demonstrated that greater public investment in decarbonising UK homes has the potential to not only support households who are struggling with high energy costs, but also has the potential to deliver greater economic growth whilst tackling emission reductions in the long-term.
