Edo Omic is Head of European Environmental Policy at Cambridge Econometrics. He specialises in managing environmental projects that apply rigorous policy analysis and quantitative methods to assess the macroeconomic, socio-economic, and environmental impacts of climate change policies.


His research portfolio includes evaluating the long-term economic effects of the EU’s ambition to cut emissions by 90% by 2040, analysing the macroeconomic implications of the climate transition including stranded assets, public finances, skills requirements, and value-chain developments, exploring financial solutions for implementing the EU’s Critical Raw Materials Act, and assessing circular economy policies for material efficiency. Additionally, he has examined competitiveness pressures on small island states arising from the Fit for 55 policy package.


With over 14 years of experience as a professional economist, Edo has worked with international organisations such as the Council of Europe Development Bank and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). His previous research has addressed key EU issues, including socio-economic inequalities, energy poverty, and energy efficiency. He has also collaborated with the European Commission on multinational projects, evaluating pre-accession countries’ industrial and trade policies, as well as their investment and competitiveness landscapes. Furthermore, he has contributed to the development of a global well-being index.


Edo is also fluent in English, Croatian, Bosnian, and French and holds an MSc in Economic from the University of Bristol.
