Welcome to Cambridge Econometrics' Knowledge Base and UK Industrial forecasting service.
Welcome to Cambridge Econometrics' (CE) latest update of its UK Industrial forecast. CE's UK Industrial Service presents forecasts for the UK economy in sectoral detail, breaking down all the macroeconomic aggregates (GDP, household expenditure, investment etc) into the products and markets more relevant for decision-making. The latest forecast (published in April 2012) is the first update in the 2012 series of UK industrial forecasts from CE.
The forecast is updated twice a year and the Knowledge Base contains in-depth commentary to explain the forecast and highlight major themes of contemporary relevance. CE's UK Industrial forecast is divided on the Knowledge Base into the following main sections:
- Executive Summary - provides a concise overview of CE's latest UK and broad sector forecasts.
- UK Forecast - provides analysis and commentary on the macroeconomic forecast for the UK.
- Broad Sectors - provides analysis and commentary on seven major broad sectors of the economy: Manufacturing; Construction; Distribution; Transport & Storage; Information & Communications; Financial & Business Services; Government Services. For each of these, we provide commentary and analysis on recent developments and, in a separate article, present and analyse the latest forecast in the context of the latest sectoral and macroeconomic developments.
- Comparison of Forecasts - A comparison between the UK Industrial forecast and alternative forecasts over a range of economic indicators.
- Behind the Forecast - provides a description of the model and recent model developments, and the key global and UK assumptions underpinning the forecast. A recent developments section provides a summary of the recent macroeconomic developments in the UK and this provides the context in which the forecast was developed.
- Downloadable Forecast Tables - contains all the main tables of results in csv and pdf format. These present detailed forecasts for 32 and 86-industry level.
Access to the forecast is obtained through an annual subscription, through which users obtain a username and password. For more information about the service, click here.
