Licensing E3ME
A user-friendly version of the E3ME model is available for commercial license. This version makes use of a simple Visual Basic user interface that runs under a Windows (XP or Vista) operating system and allows the user to run the model, making changes to the model assumptions and forecast without requiring any programming expertise.
The license also includes a baseline forecast and access to the E3ME historical database.
The main inputs that can be changed include:
- tax rates or government spending
- exchange rates and interest rates
- oil and energy prices
- assumptions for world economic growth
- new carbon or energy taxes
- features of the EU-ETS, for example changing allowance prices and allocations
In order to understand the underlying assumptions and capabilities of the E3ME model, specific training is required. Typically this takes the form of a two-day course for 6-10 people, which covers the theoretical background behind the model and practical sessions on how to run the model and analyse the output.
