Press Releases

21/07/10 UK Industrial: June 2010
GVA is expected to show a modest recovery in 2010 and to accelerate in 2011 thanks to rebounds in manufacturing, transport & communications and financial & business services.  Slow growth to 2015 raises the risk that unemployment will pick up again and remain high.

24/05/10 UK Energy and the Environment: May 2010

Latest projections confirm that:

  • the knock-on effects of the 2008-09 recession and the modest economic upturn expected over the short term, point to a further decline in the UK's carbon emissions in 2010
  • the UK is expected to come close to meeting its carbon budgets for the first two periods (2008-12 and 2013-2017), but not the third (2018-22), unless the incoming coalition Government introduces firm policies to promote renewable energy and energy efficiency in the key sectors of the economy not covered by the trading arrangements of the EU ETS

04/08/09 European Regional Prospects: Summer 2009
The ongoing crisis has had varying effects upon UK cities, and the speed of recovery is expected to vary significantly between them
